Underwear Every Woman Needs!

Beauty is difficult to define because it’s highly subjective. I’m sure we’ve all heard that a person can look beautiful on the outside, yet be ugly on the inside. Although we may all have our own opinions on what makes a person beautiful, I fully stand by the fact that a person’s physical appearance can only go so far if they possess a rotten soul. This got me thinking about the clothes we buy, and how much we pay attention to how our clothes look on the outside, but always neglect what stands between us and our beautiful clothes….yeah, our underwear.

Today is going to be a blog post all about the types of underwear every woman needs! I never thought I would write about how serious it is to have the right type of underwear, but today is the day!

Go to your closet and think about your personal choices for a minute. Is there a certain trend that you are seeing in your closet? Do you own a lot of clothing in the same color? Are most of your clothes more flowy or form fitting? Make a mental note, and now go look inside your underwear drawer and see if you notice a lot of the same type of underwear. Are they all bikinis? Are they all briefs? Are they colorful or neutral? Cotton or lacey? Think about this.

Now be honest with yourself…does it look like the underwear you have right now has seen better days? Aside from that, do they look like they are good matches for the types of clothes you wear? If you’re not sure how to answer that, please keep reading!

I broke the types of underwear you need in 3 categories. If you wear the right underwear for the right things, you’ll be amazed by how it can improve your appearance, slim you down and benefit your personal hygiene.

The Best Underwear For Jeans

The Problem: Jeans and pants in general have earned themselves a love/hate relationship and one of the main reasons is because they make us aware that we have gained a little weight. There has been times where I have put on a pair of pants and they feel a little snug. Automatically my day is ruined and I second guess all my eating choices for the day because my self esteem just got lowered when I struggled to button my pants. Every time this happened, I would step back and look at myself in the mirror and start looking at my “hip dips” and muffin top and I would feel like my jeans emphasized that.

If that muffin top sounds like something you can relate to, I’m going to tell you that it’s not your jeans fault, it’s your underwear’s!

The Solution: Look at where the waistline of your jeans hit, and plan accordingly!

The lower the rise of your jeans, the more it looks like you have a muffin top. Stick to mid-rise bottoms and make sure that your underwear is also mid-rise!

Mid-rise bottoms sit right below the belly button, so I recommend investing in Hipsters  underwear. You can find these just about anywhere. I personally get mines from Target, but another great place to go is Bare Necessities. They sell all types of underwear here and I prefer them over Victoria’s Secret when it comes to underwear that is used for every day wear. Here is how Hipsters underwear sits on your hips. Hipsters underwear also covers your butt cheeks because you also want to avoid showing your panty line. My plus size readers, check out the site, Woman Within to see great underwear options.

The Best Underwear For Athletics

Cotton. If you are going to do any physical activity, please make sure that your underwear is cotton material. At this point, the fit does not matter as much as the material. This is going to get personal for a second, but it must…if you are a woman who shaves down there, you know that in-grown hairs can get bad if you are not careful when you shave. However, in-grown hairs can get worse with the help of your sweat. They will hurt more, cause an itch, and last longer!

If you are not someone who shaves there, please still make sure you wear cotton underwear. When you are working up a sweat, you still need to allow her to breathe down there. Any underwear that is polyester or micro fiber, will not allow her to breathe. This means that over time she can build up an odor that not only you will smell. I’m serious. I have been surrounded by other girls at the gym and I can smell them. I do not mean to make anyone feel embarrassed or uncomfortable, but I really do not want you to be that person.

For athletics, buy Fruit of The Loom or Hanes underwear packs that are 100% cotton. I just bought myself some Hanes ones from Target. Click to shop my personal favorite here

The Best Underwear For Dresses

Is your dress form fitting or flowy?

For flowy dresses, your biggest concern is that a gust of wind is going to blow and your skirt is going to go up. Make sure that your underwear matches the main color that is on your dress and are either briefs, hipsters or boyshorts. Remember earlier how I said you need to make sure that your underwear covers your cheeks? You want to make sure your cheeks are covered when wearing any flowy skirt. I personally wear boy shorts for flowy bottoms like these from Aerie.

boyshorts

For form-fitting dresses, you need underwear that is light weight, a neutral color and a higher rise. This is when it is okay to wear polyester underwear. The material is thin and no one will be able to see the outline of it which will make you look flawless! This is the type of underwear that is perfect for form fitting dresses. I’m totally against spanx so this is a much more comfy and practical option. Body Toner Smoothing underwear pack was bought at Target.

DSCN9027[1]

If the dress material is super thin, ALWAYS wear underwear that matches your skin tone. Especially if you plan on having pictures taken. The flash will show the world your hot pink underwear that’s underneath your black dress! Don’t be that person.

I hope you all learned something today and that you keep these things in mind the next time you need to go underwear shopping. Thank you to everyone that read this far.

Happy Saturday and stay stylish!

Where I’ve Been & What’s On My Mind

So it’s been a while, but I uploaded a YouTube video on what to wear when it is humid and rainy. I already have a video on what to wear when it is cold and rainy on my channel and since it has been raining non-stop here in Texas, I was inspired to make a different kind of rainy video. If you haven’t already, please watch my latest video on what to wear when it is humid and rainy.

The point of this blog post is to share with you all on where I’ve been and some possible future video ideas. So first off, if you’ve been following me for a while and also have me on other social media, you know that I am a full-time student and part-time employee. This semester I am a student journalist since I am enrolled in a Reporting course. I have been working my butt off trying to find the next story, grab connections, schedule interviews, re-schedule interviews, and remember that I have 3 other classes that I also need to worry about. I am pleased to say that I am going to have one of my stories published on the online publication at my school! This is a big deal for me because I’ve never had work published before and I know that I could now include this in my resume! But you probably do not want to talk too much about resumes do you? Lets talk about pets instead.

About a week ago, my 15-year-old cat fell from the top of the table and landed pretty badly on the floor. He appeared to be having a seizure and was rushed to the vet immediately by my parents. The good news is that the kitty is fine, but my family must respect his age and keep a closer eye on him. He will not jump up to high places anymore, but my family is perfectly fine with that. We love our cat so much.

As for my fashion blogging endeavors, I am working on doing more photo shoots once this rainy weather slows down a bit and I am also looking for other bloggers and businesses to collaborate with. I am sticking to local and small businesses for now, but one day I hope that I could collab with others on a more national level because I know all of you are from very different places and I would love it if we can all share our fashion sense and recommend place we can all go to look, feel and do our best.

Lastly, I want to bring up a major change in my makeup. Personally, my favorite makeup products are lipstick and mascara. I cannot go a day without wearing, or thinking of wearing them. Although my favorite mascara has always been Telescopic by L’Oreal, I am going to no longer use this mascara since L’Oreal, is one of the many cosmetic companies that have remained silent when PETA did research on which cosmetic companies do or do not test on animals at some point of the process. By just that alone, something doesn’t seem right. In fact, makeup has really been on my mind lately, and when I heard all the reports about ULTA reselling used makeup, I started to really think about makeup even more. There are some unethical things behind the scenes that I am not sure about. Therefore I am going to be making some changes in my beauty bag.

These are just a few updates on where I’ve been, and what has been on my mind. What have you lovely people been up to? Let’s talk! Comment below or visit my contact page, find my email and email me!

5 Other Ways To Get Over A Bad Day/Setbacks

I left my house at 7:30 a.m. and came back home almost 12 hours later. I kept reflecting on my day and the more I thought of it, the more defeated I realized I felt. How could I wake up feeling so confident, yet feel so down within the same day? Many of you know that a lot can happen in a day. A LOT.

I am a whole lot better now because I realized that there is no use crying over spilled milk and that my setbacks will never ever, overpower my comebacks. Aside from the first 5 things I do to recover that you saw in my video, here are the other 5 ways to make your comeback stronger than any of your set backs. These are different than the first 5 because it now involves others rather than just yourself.

6. Take ownership of your mistake, but keep your dignity.

Oh man. That already sounds hard, but accidents happen! Sometimes our own setbacks happen because we mess up on our end. Maybe we missed a deadline or maybe we accidentally did or said something we shouldn’t have. Whatever happened, if you know you were in the wrong, take a deep breath and take ownership of your mistake. Address it, apologize, whatever it was…do not let pride prevent you from making things right. However, keep your dignity! Do not cry, beg or blame. Remain professional. You’re a sophisticated individual who is better than making a scene like a child. This is probably the hardest step out of the 5, but it is the first thing you need to do in order for the others to work out.

7. Clear Things Out

I mean this in various ways. First off, GET ORGANIZED. Clean out that desk at work, your room, your car, your purse and even your backpack if you’re a student. Sometimes mess in itself can cause us to be overwhelmed so get organized! Keep what you need, and toss what you don’t need. Secondly and more importantly, communication. Clear out what you have been holding inside. Just say it. If there was a big misunderstanding, make it known so that it is prevented again in the future.

8. Ask For Help

If you’re anything like me, you dread asking others for help. Maybe it’s because you feel like you’re interrupting them, or maybe you feel like they’ll think you’re dumb for asking a certain question, but you need to free yourself from those thoughts. In this life, we are all here to learn. Take it upon yourself to seek knowledge. Everyone benefits in the end.

9. Don’t Be Close Minded

I know that the public can sometimes have rocky relationships with the media, but I want you to think of a journalist for a moment. Journalist often have to report stories and try their best to capture both sides of the story. A good journalist is able to do this fine, but a great journalist is able to do this in a way that both sides have a clear voice in the story and neither one of those voices is the journalist! What I’m saying is, to be neutral. Do not judge and pick sides, especially in the work place! Hear others out and try to understand them. This also ties into seeking knowledge. Know when to be a team player and when it’s best to remain neutral.

10. Get Involved.

Listen here, we can all say those four words, “I don’t have time,” but it’s a fact that we can always make time for things that need to get done. Like work, school, homework and all that serious stuff, but don’t forget about the things that make you happy! The things that you naturally gravitate towards. For me, it’s fashion blogging. If I had the “I don’t have time,” mentality, I would not be writing this and I would not be making YouTube videos or have my fashion account on Instagram. I also would have never gotten over my camera shyness! Or gotten the chance to meet interesting people and I know that I probably wouldn’t be anywhere near as happy right now. By doing what you love, you will find yourself getting involved in a community of like-minded individuals who will give you advice, support you and even be friends with! In the process, you may even learn more things about yourself.

Alrighty everyone, I hope that my video and blog motivate you on your own recovery process of going through a bad day. Just remember that your mistakes do not define who you are. Just like my statement in the beginning of my video says, you know who you are. Life is full of setbacks. There are going to be days where the world acts like it’s against you and nothing is going according to plan, but that shouldn’t leave you defeated forever. Life is hard, but that fact shouldn’t stop you from living it!

Keep going and stay stylish.

Skirts Every Woman Should Have

Hello everyone, first off, I want to thank everyone who wished me happy birthday today! I am now 22 years old and I am very eager to see the opportunities this year has in store for me. I also want to acknowledge Martin Luther King Jr. day today and say that I am thankful for the rights I have in modern times because many before me believed in a change for the better and worked so hard to make it happen.

Today I want to talk about skirts that every woman should have in her closet! I released another YouTube video today as a part of my closet series and not only do I show you all some of my skirts, these skirts I chose are examples of the types of skirts I think need to be in everyone’s closet!

  1. The Sweater Skirt- Since it’s winter time, I’m sure there is a heightened interest in keeping warm in the fashion world so I think that a sweater skirt is a must-have in any woman’s closet. The sweater skirt needs to be made of thick material that is going to keep you warm and not lift up whenever there is a gust of wind! sweater skirt
  2. Leather/Solid Black Skirt- If you’re not into a sweater skirt, leather skirts will also keep you warm. I always get faux leather skirts and as long as the leather is not a thin material, it is another good alternative to keep warm. Also, everyone needs a solid black skirt to pair with anything. leather skirt
  3. Brown Skirt- Black is not the only neutral color option! brown skirt
  4. Basic Pencil Skirt- When you need to get down to business, but putting on pants is not an option, a pencil skirt is the way to go! I don’t think I need to really explain this one too much. pencil
  5. Fun Pencil Skirt- New York & Company has some really good pencil skirt options that are a little bit more fun and non-traditional that neutral colored ones. fun pencil
  6. Bell Shaped Skirt- a bell shaped skirt is a skirt that is fitted on top and flares out as is gets closer to the hem. These skirts come in various lengths and I usually wear these when I don’t feel like wearing a pencil skirt. This one is from Forever 21bellskirt
  7. Printed Skirt- not every bottom apparel needs to be solid. Don’t be plain, stand out! printed
  8. Bright Colored Skirt-because your clothes should never bore you! bright skirt
  9. Sequined Skirt-Sequined skirts is more of a party option, but your closet shouldn’t be all work and no play! I think sequined skirts are perfect! In my YouTube video below I have a mini sequined skirt, but I also wanted to show a sequined skirt in a longer length as well. sequin skirts

A great website that has almost all of these types of skirts on it is Lulu’s! Here is their website if you want to check it out:

https://www.lulus.com

And last, but not least, my latest YouTube video for you all to watch and see my own personal picks of the skirts I think every woman should have!

Before I go, I want to welcome anyone new who has joined my blog! I hope you like the topics I write about and find them helpful. My video shows other social media outlets that you can find me on, now including Poshmark!

Thank you guys for reading and stay stylish!

Imperfect Things About Me That Make Me Perfectly Happy!

No one is perfect. We hear this all the time, but we often need to be reminded constantly about this fact! I see all these models on Instagram for example and there are times where I find myself comparing my body to their body. Or I see a fashion blogger with a big closet full of clothes and it makes me look at my own closet wishing it was just like theirs. Whether you think someone is perfect because of how they look, who they are, or what their lifestyle appears to be like, do not feel like you and your life is not good enough. In today’s blog I am going to point out imperfect things about myself that make me feel happy at the end of the day.

  1. My Random Dimple- When I smirk or have a smug face rather than actually smiling, a random dimple on my right cheek will appear! I think dimples are adorable. Especially when it’s a dimple from smiling, but what makes my dimple so imperfect is that it will only appear when I am making a weird smirk or face.happy5
  2. My Square Shaped Butt- I have heard people describe butts in various ways and for a while, it seemed like everyone was just all about the bass! Social media has also made it seem that the only good looking butts were either the really round ones or the heart shaped ones, but my butt is more of a square shaped butt. Despite my butt not fitting into the mold of the most desirable shape there is, I still think it’s round enough!happy4
  3. My height- I am 5ft 2 in. tall and I always wished I was taller! But the way I see it is that I can always wear heels to be taller on those days were I really cannot stand my own height.happy.jpg
  4. My Knee Scars- You cannot tell that much in this photo, but I have scars on both my knees. My favorite things to wear are dresses and skirts and I absolutely cannot stand pants! The scar on my left knee looks like the Nike logo and the scar on the right knee is from skidding on the street after tripping in the middle of my afternoon run. My mom was so upset and freaked out after seeing all that blood. The reason I love my scars is because there are some crazy stories behind them.dscn59681.jpg
  5. My Sorta Flat Tummy- Us women always freak out about our bodies! STOP! One thing that stands out when I am wearing high waisted skirts especially, is that there is always this center crease across my stomach that shows that my stomach is folding a little when I am sitting down or when I am not purposely sucking my stomach in. So my stomach is only sorta flat, who cares? This makes me happy because it reminds me that I am well fed! You can also see this tummy thing in that last picture.happy3

New Video & 2018 So Far

Hello everyone,

I am writing to you all today in a freezing office and with another cough drop in my mouth. Yesterday morning I woke up with the back of my head throbbing and found that to be very peculiar. I remember rising up from my bed to take a drink of water and realizing that my throat felt odd. I pretty much spent all day yesterday in bed and was probably asleep most of the time. The only productive thing that I did was edit my latest YouTube video which is now up on my channel. Originally I was going to do a voice over in this video, but with my voice sounding super ridiculous right now, I refrained from that idea and decided to put some music in the background instead.

I was originally going to continue my closet series with my skirts, but it’s been so cold  everywhere that I decided to do a scarf video instead! I wear all of my scarfs differently which you will see in this video. I feature all my scarfs and the different ways that I like to tie and wear them!

2018 has started off on a sick note, but I am trying not to let this prevent me from working on what I want to accomplish! I also want to thank anyone who has subscribed to my YouTube channel. I have 24 followers now! I can’t wait to see that family grow. I also want to thank all 72 of you that have subscribed to my blog and have allowed me to vent about things and gush about others! To anyone feeling sick since we are in flu season, I pray for you to get healthy soon. Keep washing your hands, cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze, stay hydrated, and call into work if you must! Get your rest and watch my latest YouTube video and be sure to check out my other videos as well and subscribe to my channel!

Rebecca Minkoff: Guitar Pick Hinged Cuff Review

Rebecca Minkoff is a fashion designer with her own global brand where she sells apparel, jewelry, handbags and even footwear for women just to name a few things. The CEO, co founder, and brother to Rebecca, is Uri Minkoff who has his own line of men’s accessories. I had never heard about Rebecca Minkoff until my father gave me one of my Christmas gifts which was Rebecca Minkoff’s Guitar Pick Hinged Cuff bracelet in gold.

rebeccaminkoff

My father and I both love music. We both get really passionate about new music and classic tunes and introducing people to new music. So when my father saw a bracelet with a guitar pick that said Love on it, he purchased it for me.  I can go on and on about spending the majority of my childhood in the CD room listening to my dad’s CD collection and any albums that had interesting artwork or an interesting band name, but I want to dedicate this blog to reviewing this product.

First off, this isn’t something that I asked my father to get me for Christmas. He told me that he was shopping for my mom, when he saw this bracelet and thought of me (my heart is melting right now) and he himself had never heard of Rebecca Minkoff. He found the bracelet inside a department store, but it can also be found on her website at https://www.rebeccaminkoff.com

I LOVE the bracelet. My initial reaction when I saw it was to put it on! I removed the tag and clipped on the bracelet on my left wrist. I grew curious about this new brand that I went straight to her website to look at more things. If you sign up with your email, you can get 15% off your first purchase!

As my day had progressed on Christmas, I was super happy to show off my bracelet when I noticed a problem…

The $58 bracelet’s clip was not getting the grip it needed to stay on very long.

If I could give this bracelet five stars, I would have. But for a $58 bracelet, you would think that the clip used to secure it around your wrist was a better quality. I would put on my jacket, it would snap off. I would raise my hand, it would snap off. I would shake someone’s hand, it would snap off. Unbelievable and definitely unacceptable.

When I told my father, he had told me that someone had left a review of this same bracelet with the exact same complaint. I am going to review it on Rebecca Minkoff’s website and say the truth. The truth meaning that the bracelet is beautiful, but really needs a better way to secure itself around your wrist. The part of the bracelet that I’m referring to is the one circled below.

rebeccaminkoff_LI.jpg

My father was able to take care of this issue by securing the clip together, and tapping it gently with a hammer to flatten the little ball point so that the clip wouldn’t break away from it so easily. Although the solution was a simple one, customers should not have to do this at all. Especially for $58 worth.

The items in her site are overpriced, but she does have an under $100 section and an under $50 section. Jewelry and accessories are the most affordable options on there. Never be afraid to give an honest opinion or experience about something new. I love that Rebecca Minkoff is a young fashion designer who made her dream happen, so the least I can do is be honest with her about my first impression of one of her products so that her company knows what they need to pay more attention to.

I love my bracelet, just not the hassle. Always remain grateful and do not be afraid to give new things a try!
