4 Things To Remember Before You Begin Your Back-To-School Shopping Spree

Hello everyone, it is that time of year again when back-to-school shopping is becoming a priority on almost everyone’s checklist. Here are some simple tips on things every girl needs to remember before she begins her back-to-school shopping.

Number 1: Look at your closet to see what you already have

I know there are certain things that we just cannot seem to have enough of, but a lot of the times what our closet needs is balance in order to prevent you from feeling like you have a closet full of clothes yet not a single thing to wear. I am learning this better myself by trying to focus more on neutral pieces rather than buying something that is just simply colorful and eye-catching.

Number 2: If you are going to be trying on clothes, wear a nude colored bra and mid-rise underwear.

I know this seems weird, but don’t you just hate it when you try on a pretty white blouse and can’t get past the fact that your hot pink bra is just peeking through the fabric? With a nude colored bra, you do not have to worry about this happening on any top that you wear because it is see-through proof.

As for the mid-rise underwear, you want to wear this because you are probably going to be trying on different rise bottoms and you want to make sure that your underwear is not going to give you a hip-dip when trying on fitted skirts or that it wont be peeking out if you squat down while wearing your pants. A mid-rise, hipster type of underwear will help you decide on whether or not your clothes will work out for you.

Number 3: Think of things that you already have in mind of purchasing, and purchase those items first!

Don’t you just hate when what you want is no longer in stock? I know I do! If there is something out there that you really, really want, do not stop yourself if you know that there is a chance that the item can sell out fast or if a big sale such as tax-free weekend is going to attract heavy traffic in the store. Just go for it if you really want or need it!

Number 4: If you see something you like, think about how you can wear it with items you already have.

I use this shopping strategy all the time. When I see something I like at the store or online, I ask myself how I would wear it with pieces I already have in my closet. The more you can use whatever it is you want to buy with items that are already in your possession, the more likely that it will be a useful asset to your wardrobe and will also help you avoid buyer’s remorse.

I hope you all keep this in mind when you go back-to-school shopping. If you haven’t already, look at my last blog post and see if the type of student you are fits in any of the categories. I could really use your feedback on a project I am working on.

Good luck with back-to-school shopping and stay stylish 🙂

What’s Your Major??

Hello everyone! This blog is going to be targetted to those who are college students. I am going to make a back-to-school lookbook soon and I could really use your help! I am going to be doing four different looks depending on your major!

Here are the types of students I am thinking of and their majors…

  • Business Woman
  • Fine Arts Woman
  • Science Woman
  • Kinesiology/ Athletic Woman

I could really use some advice if you fall into any of these categories.

If you are a business student who has to do a presentation, what would you hope that others would think about you when they first see you?

If you are a fine arts student, how would you dress in order to express your individuality?

If you are a science student, what are the dress code requirements for those lab days that you feel that I should keep in mind?

If you are a student who loves to keep active during the school year, what are some easy ways to dress up your athletic wear so that you are not having to carry multiple outfits?

I am looking at filming this back-to-school lookbook which is something that I have never done before, but just thinking about it makes me so excited!

Here is my target audience best described….

Back In Black

Finally! I have been able to blog at an earlier time today! Is everyone’s week going by fast? Mines either.

It’s actually crunch time right now for me and those who may be taking summer classes. I am drowning in homework and am trying to remember every single deadline and of course, work is also picking up as we get closer to the fall semester. I feel like I’ve been constantly talking and thinking about school, but that’s because school is pretty much my life right now. I don’t see anything wrong with that personally, but I will admit that I am really looking forward to my two weeks off. Yeah, unlike two months off, I only really got two weeks off. This is okay, hard work pays off and I cannot wait to get that degree!

Who knew that my campus would be a great place to take some fashion photos? Honestly, this is the last place I would have gone, but since my boyfriend and I went on a random day at a random time, it was pretty nice to take pictures there! Oh, and my outfit was black. Picture of my outfit is in the image below.

Did you know that you can pretty much dress up a pair of shorts with a nice blouse and jewelry? Shoes can also transform an outfit from looking casual to dressed up. If you do not want to look too casual or over-dressed this semester, boots are always the best shoes to wear because they are super versatile and won’t hurt your feet when you walk all over campus.

Back in Black

I think that the most important rule about wearing black is that your outfit does not have to be boring if you stick to this neutral color or any neutral color for that matter! Any time I like any black clothing, it is because it has its own uniqueness to it. The shoes for example have a jeweled design in the front. The blouse has ruffles and lace detail while the shorts have the white polka-dots to help the outfit come together without overpowering or blending in too much. Let me know what you guys think about this outfit and if you can, check out the picture that Target shared from my Instagram account! Link to see it is going to be right below this sentence.

Fall Semester is 1 Month From Now!

Hold up, retail stores….what do you mean back-to-school? Some of us haven’t even left school because we take summer classes! Anyways, today it hit me when I realized that one month from today starts the fall semester for some of us. Some people may have an earlier or later date, but either way, it’s coming for all of us! The summer heat may be increasing, but starting next week there will be some changes in my schedule since my work schedule is going back to its fall hours and my summer 2 class is getting more challenging and coming to an end in 2 weeks. I will have to adapt to a new schedule which is not always easy. I am still new to being a fashion blogger so I am going to see how I balance school, work, social life, family and fashion blogging. No worries, I swear I am not going to disappear. If I do not post on here a day or two, you can always follow me on my Instagram account alamocitysara to follow me on a more daily basis.

Back To School

As I look ahead I am really trying to consider what is and what is not practical of me to wear as I go back to school. I will find myself walking all over the place. I am going to have to find outfits that are going to be appropriate for work, but also cute enough for school. Some days I will have spare time to go home and change into something more comfortable, but I know that it is more of a hassle. The truth is that college students will always find themselves hauling ass one way or another, but that doesn’t mean that I should at least look great while doing it! I wish I had a school locker as big as this storage door full of clothes to change into!

Back to school 2

Another huge deal for me this fall semester is that my boyfriend is going to be going to the same school as me! Ever since we dated, we have always gone to different school and have had to put in extra time to see each other which got exhausting. I’m really looking forward to carpooling and being on campus together. I know that my plate is going to be full, but I know that what doesn’t kill me will definitely make me stronger. Before I can truly get excited for the fall semester, I have to finish and pass my summer 2 class that I am currently taking. Wish me luck everyone!
