Last Day of School Outfit + Future Plans

I know many of you hear these words when someone has had enough of whatever is going on and are really frustrated. HOWEVER…I am actually saying this in total happiness and joy because I have officially completed the Fall semester of 2017! I can finally focus more on my personal endeavors for the next two weeks, which means I will hopefully have some more YouTube videos posted on my channel for you all to see as well as more blog posts on here. I still post daily on my Instagram account which you can find at: alamocitysara

I miss writing on here and I know that I haven’t been as active as I have in the past, but with the workload of being a full-time student out of the way, I know this will change. I have only received one final grade which was a 97 in Business Communication. I am still waiting for my other grades, but as soon as I get them, I will let you all know. With that said, I want to take a moment to congratulate anyone who may be graduating this year! I personally do not know anyone who is, but for those all around the world who are…

Although I am done with school for now until Spring, I wanted to show you guys what I wore for the last day of school. I wanted to end this tough semester on a good note, so I wore my power color: Red!

My mom thinks that I am obsessed with plaid and you know what? She’s absolutely right! Especially red plaid! Black and red just go so well together and I just love wearing these colors. More than half my closet consists of these two colors together and I wouldn’t want my wardrobe to be any other way. A lot of those who have red hair refrain from wearing red clothing because they think it will be a bit of an overkill, but in my book I strongly disagree.

To quote Sheryl Crow’s lyrics, “If it makes you happy, it can’t be that bad!”

Everything in this outfit are pieces that I’ve had for at least two years. The plaid top is from Macy’s and the brand is Material Girl. You cannot see it in this picture, but on the back of this blouse where my shoulders are, there are black sequins! Sequins are a must in your outfit if you plan on going out on New Years Eve!

My leather skirt was on clearance at Express. Still a shopper on a budget here! The tights are from Target and the flats are from Shoedazzle. I’m due for a new pair of black flats now that I think about it. I also want to bring up the fact that when I woke up yesterday morning, I had no idea what to wear. When in doubt, go for one of your go-to outfits or keep your outfit neutral with a pop of color. This will give you an effortlessly cool look for the day.

  1. Loved Ones

Other than my fashion endeavors, I plan on spending some time with loved ones. I get so busy with work and school that it is always a struggle for me to make time for everyone I care about that does not live under the same roof as I do. I struggle with the fact that I spread myself too thin because I try to make time for everyone. So even though I am looking forward to spending time with friends, I am also going to challenge myself to continue to put myself first.

2. Fitness

I am also going to try to focus on my fitness during these next two weeks. I am a runner, but I hate treadmills. I only want to run if it’s in the great outdoors, but if it’s cold outside, I am not going to want to leave my warm house! I also rely on the gym on campus and at work to help me stay active and fit, but if the facility is closed, so is the fitness center! Let’s not forget the fact that my hardcore Mexican family is going to be making a ton of tamales and all these other goodies and I cannot say no to food!

3. Reading, Writing, Drawing

When I am not drowning in homework or focusing on fashion and I get some time to myself, I am usually doing one of these things. I am going to be reading a few books, starting with The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and Save Me From Myself by Brian Welch, (Korn’s former guitarist). I’ve read Welch’s book before, but I want to read it again! The Night Circus is a book that I started reading, but never got to finish. I already have these two books on hold at my local library.

I hope that anyone who is a student enjoys their free time as well as all hard-working employees who are getting some free time during the holiday season. I hope everyone gets to have a great time and enjoy themselves. While not on here, you all will now know what I will be up to!

My Red Hair! Updated Facts About My Hair Care Routine And YouTube Channel!

I love fashion. I love the fact that it makes me feel so much more confident when I walk out knowing that I look good. Just being honest! I always loved being able to let others know about where I got my clothing or accessories from and even given fashion advice when I worked retail. Since dyeing my hair red, my outfits started to not be the only thing that people were asking about. Although my main focus is my fashion, I couldn’t ignore the fact that many people were asking about my hair color, so…..

I have a video on my YouTube channel so that you can see what my hair stylist does in order to achieve my red hair color! It is a process, and I am going to be honest about everything, so if you are interested, give it a watch! Below is a link to my YouTube channel so you can subscribe to me and turn on your notifications so that you are aware about my videos the second I put it on there!

In the meantime, here are some helpful tips on how to maintain red hair!

1. A Good Color-Treated Shampoo AND Conditioner 20171205_202844

Vibrant Sexy Hair is the shampoo and conditioner that I have been using and it is a keeper. I got mines at ULTA beauty and this shampoo keeps my hair color lasting the longest. Even my hairstylist told me that my roots were hardly showing! I get my hair touched up every 8 weeks. The product’s color is white and it smells like a field of roses!

2.  Refrain From Washing Your Hair Every Day.

I know, I know, I know. This may be gross to some of you, but I remember training my hair to not get so oily so fast for an entire year before coloring it red. If you’re like me, not washing your hair every day can seem like a deal breaker, but it’s beneficial to your hair to absorb natural oils that you need. Start by only washing your hair every other day. It does take getting used to, but luckily there is a great, inexpensive dry shampoo that works really well! The one that I currently use is Dove’s Detox & Purify Dry Shampoo.

This dry shampoo is still my favorite! I have tried Panteen’s, Clean Freak, L’Oreal’s, and so many others, but none of them do the job like Dove’s for me!

3. Get A Good Hair Serum

A lot of us who go to the salon know that when our hairstylist washes our hair, it looks so shiny and silky smooth…but when YOU wash it, it just doesn’t look the same! UGH! I know that when I started coloring my hair, my hair started losing its shine, but with a good hair serum, you can still get that salon shine and it will also help the  tips of your hair from breaking after all that styling. The one my hair stylist used on me during my salon visit is Mom’s Neurishing Oil Treatment. Another great one that you can find at the store is OGX Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum. It smells and feels so great!

4. Allow Your Hair To Air Dry & Do Not Comb It Right Away.

This may be a little more personal for me, but I always air dry because I style my hair a lot and I like for my hair to have a break from that so I always wash my hair the night before about 3 hours before bedtime. I also do not comb my hair right away after getting out of the shower. I lightly soak up the excess water with my towel and wait until 2 hours after stepping out to comb it. I noticed that when my hair is still very wet, that brushing it also brushes off more of my hair dye. However, brushing my hair when damp to dry does not remove more of my hair dye.

5. Wear Hats!

Okay, so we know that another way to not have greasy looking hair without the help of dry shampoo, is also with the help of a hat. It’s getting closer to winter so I am walking out in my beanies and I am so excited! I love hats! Another reason to keep hats in mind is to protect your hair from fading. The sun’s rays can fade your red hair, so be mindful of this if you have red hair, but you’re going to be outdoors for a long period of time.

These are the most recent tips and products that I use so I hope you enjoyed reading about it. Without further ado, check out my YouTube channel and click on the first video on there which is all about my red hair!

Thank you guys so much for reading my blog, please click the link above to visit my YouTube channel and watch my video. Also be sure to subscribe and I will talk to you all more later!

Prints That Just Call Our Names!

It’s pretty rare that I sport solid colored clothing. I need there to be some sort of design or print somewhere in my outfit. My beanies are proof of this because I only have 2 beanies out of 12 that are solid colored. I also don’t want my outfits to seem too ordinary.  I have a co-worker who loves anything leopard printed. She even wore a leopard eared headband on Halloween. Leopards are probably her favorite animal as well. My mom’s favorite print is polka dots! Especially when the polka dots are white and on top of a navy blue background. There is just something about that that she just gravitates towards when she sees anything like that.

I also have a favorite print. And I hope that I can get more clothing and accessories with this type of print. My favorite print is lips!

Lip print or kiss print, however you want to say it, calls my name because to me it symbolizes a lot of things. First off, love. This is pretty obvious because we kiss our loved ones and kisses are just a way of showing affection. Another reason why I love this print is because I think it is the perfect print for a bad ass girl to wear. Have you ever seen one of those movie scenes from the 80’s where all the biker girls are in the bathroom talking, joking and smoking and there is that one girl who is applying her lipstick? That girl almost always kissed the mirror before she took on the day. I always thought that was so bad ass, but maybe I’m just being weird now. I even love the way that the lip print looks in home decor. Such as the image below.

One of my biggest and also most personal dreams is to launch a lipstick line. I am not sure if I want the line to be through makeup or a fashion line that has a lot of clothing with the lip print. One day I will open up more about why I would want to do this, but for now, I am going to end my blog for today right here and give you all the opportunity to let me know what type of print seems to call your name!

Also, please head over to YouTube and watch my latest video I released yesterday if you haven’t already! You can find me at AlamoCitySara.

Thank you all for reading my blog! Stay stylish!

Never Say Never!

Can you recall a time where you said you would never wear something like that?

I remember all that time and laugh while shaking my head side-to-side in disbelief. I remember how not even a year ago I said that I would NEVER wear white pants or long pencil skirts. It’s funny how these items made their way into my closet. So what changed?

I began this fashion blog in order to give some outfit inspiration and talk about things relative in the fashion world that I hope is relateable and/or enjoyable to read.

Today I am going to show you some photos I took earlier today where I am wearing a long pencil skirt that I thought I would never, ever wear. So here it goes!

Everything in this outfit are all things that I said I would never wear!

Starting from the shoes, I remember how I said I would never wear shoes that showed my toes. I used to be self-conscious about my toes because of how little they were. My pinky toe is so small, the nail looks like it’s hardly there when I cut my nails!

The skirt, as I mentioned earlier, was that long pencil skirt that I said I would never wear yet this snakeskin one from Boohoo is my favorite! I love skirts, but long length skirts and dresses always intimidated me because I am a short person (5 ft. 2 in) and I felt that I could not pull it off. I think this skirt is very figure flattering and I am really thinking of getting another skirt like this.

The top is a band top! I LOVE band shirts, but I recall a time where I only wanted to wear a band shirt if it was a t-shirt. I used to hate tank tops. I didn’t want to be showing my arms. I had twig arms my whole life and I felt weak. I wouldn’t leave the house in a tank top or in a sleeveless blouse because I didn’t like the way my arms looked.

The choker necklace is also something I thought I wouldn’t wear. I always thought that it looked like a had a collar like my pet cat or something, but the choker necklaces I am seeing everywhere are so cute! I’m obsessed!

Never say never to things without giving them a try. You’ll be surprised to see what actually looks good on you! Keep an open mind and stay stylish! 😉

5 Makeup Products I Cannot Live Without

Welcome back everyone! So sorry I did not post my blog last night. I woke up in a panic when I realized that I did not make a post. I am going to continue on with tonight’s intended blog which is 5 makeup products I cannot live without!

5. Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation

Rimmel London Foundation

I really like this foundation because it doesn’t make my skin look cakey when I put it on. I naturally have oily skin and this foundation helps my complexion look smooth and matte all day. With normal foundation, my skin will look shiny by the middle of the day which is very annoying when I am planning on doing a photo shoot. The only time that I can wear a foundation that is no matte is during the winter. I think it’s really important to change up your foundation when the seasons change because your skin reacts differently to different climates.

4. Too Faced Blushes

Two Faced Blush

I really love these blushes by Too Faced thank to my mom who introduced me to them. The ones that I own are Baby Love and Love Hangover and I really love how pigmented they are. I love that Baby Love is more natural and is a nude pink that suits my skin tone and how Love Hangover gives me a pop of color that I need when I keep the rest of my makeup looking simple. I think these blushes can flatter anyone.

3. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liners

Stila Eyeliner

I needed to train myself on how to use liquid liner.  Before using liquid liner, I strictly used pencil. I began seeing how a lot of girls did winged eyeliner and I really wanted to give it a try. This eyeliner by Stila makes applying liquid liner so easy! The skinny pointed tip helps you draw winged eyeliner steadily and these eyeliners come in different colors. I really like the dark blue one even though I use black the most. One day I will have all the colors!

2. L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Liquid Lipstick

L'oreal Paris Infallible Pro-matte liquid lipstick

I am a lipstick junkie. I can never go a day without wearing it! Although my favorite lip color to wear is red, I have also grown very fond of wearing muave pink and nude colored lipstick. These lipsticks by L’Oreal are so great! They stay on all day and the color does not fade on you. I will say, that if you are not used to matte lipstick, that this may not be the lipstick for you. These lipsticks are intense in the sense that they stay on for long periods of time. With that said, these can be very hard to take off if you do not have proper makeup remover. Soap and water will not cut it! But if you love matte lipstick like me…I recommend these! The shade that I own is called ‘Cowboy.’

1. L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara

I cannot live without lipstick. But I also cannot live without mascara! Honestly, lipstick and mascara are all I need!

So I heard of this mascara by YouTube Beauty guru, Carli Bybel!

Loreal Telescopic Mascara

This mascara is a lengthening mascara which is something that I prefer over a mascara that volumizes and I love this mascara because it makes my lashes super long without my ever having to worry about false lashes. I have tried many mascaras, but this one really lengthens my lashes and opens my eyes up. I have even tried the Too Faced ‘Better Than Sex’ mascara and not even that mascara has worked wonders on my eyes like Telescopic does.

There you have it guys, the 5 makeup products I cannot live without! I use these products daily and they have really worked for me and if you give them a try, I hope they work for you too! I will talk to you all more tomorrow.

Stay stylish!

Why Red Is My Favorite Color

I am uncertain if us girls ever remember the first time we really felt beautiful. I was watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air this morning and they were showing the episode where Ashley is about to have her first year in high school Carlton and Will. Will allows her to hang out with him and his friends until she makes friends of her own. Ashley then notices how Will and his friends looked at girls and how they would rate them on their looks from a scale of 1 thru 10. This makes Ashley begin to look at herself and change in order to get this sort of attention from boys as well. The point of me bringing this up is because I remember feeling just like Ashley. Feeling like every other girl was prettier or more desirable and likeable. Just like Ashley did, I begin to dress a certain way and put myself through so much just to feel pretty.

I was Ashley’s age when I went to the mall and bought myself clothes. I had saved some birthday money and went to the mall and told myself that I couldn’t be beating myself up over not being the tallest, or the smartest, or the one with the nice boobs, or with the flawless complexion, or a size 2 and so forth and that I had to just work with what God gave me.

Although red is a color I’ve always been drawn to, I fell in love with the color when I found myself inside Charlotte Russe trying on this red blouse and stared at myself in the mirror for a long time. I actually felt beautiful. This color looked great on me! I got a taste if confidence and self-acceptance.

At that moment, I knew that I wanted the color red to be on mt quinceanera dress. I knew that I wanted to one day dye my hair red. I bought red lipstick which became a part of my identity. I now have so many red clothing ij my closet and have even earned myself the nickname “red” at work because of my red hair and the fact that every outfit I wear has something red on it. Even my iPod is red!!!

I love this color because it makes me feel beautiful, confident, empowered and unstoppable. The color itself is bold and makes its presence known and I love it! Red will always be my favorite color. What is your favorite color and why? Love yourself and stay stylish.

I Felt Fancy Today

So as many of you know, I am all about saving money and really working hard for your to earn your paycheck. I always buy things that are at discounted prices and never really buy anything regular priced anymore!

Makeup is a bit of a different story.

There is still a lot of good deals out there, and I know what I like to splurge on which is lipstick, but today, I bought something that I did not originally plan on buying, and although I was hesitant to swipe my card, I am so happy to say that I now have YouTube star Carli Bybel’s beauty palette in my possession! I cannot get over how gorgeous the shades are and I am very eager to try it out. For those of you who do not know who Carli is, she is a makeup artist who does beauty videos for hair and makeup and is also a fashionista. She is also one of the most gorgeous people I’ve ever seen!

She is photographed here while holding her beauty palette and I really cannot believe that I own her product now. I am blesses that I was able to afford this palette and with everything that I spend money on, I know that the money used does not fall from the sky, although that would be nice!

I am going to be wearing her palette the remainder of this week and I will only be showing pictures of how it comes out on my Instagram account. If you would like to see the way these eye shadows, highlighters, and bronzers come out, find me on Instagram and give me a follow!

If you are wondering why I placed the Telescopic mascara by Loreal, it is because Carli was the one who introduced me to this mascara and it is the best mascara EVER!

I am going to go to bed early tonight so that tomorrow can just come already and I can give this beautiful palette a try! HURRY UP MORNING!!! Also, I want to make sure everyone understands that it is okay to treat yourself to a regular priced item that you really, really want. Do not feel guilty for doing this once in a while!

Stay Stylish my friends 😉
