National Thrift Store Day!

Instagram has made me aware that it is National Thrift Store Day today! I personally love to thrift shop and it has saved me a lot of money while also keeping me in style. Thrift Store finds have made their way to almost every single outfit that I wear. You can honestly find a ton of stuff at a thrift store and I really love the fact that when people compliment something I am wearing, that item or piece of apparel is almost always thrifted.

I have no shame in being a thrift store shopper. I am letting you guys know that I almost never buy anything regular priced when it comes to clothes, accessories and shoes. If thrift store shopping is absolutely not your thing, then I recommend that you find some re-sale stores in your area. Re-sale stores in my hometown are Plato’s Closet, Uptown Cheapskate and New To You. These stores buy and sell second-hand merchandise and these items that they buy and sell are usually name brand items!

If you are absolutely not a fan of second-hand clothing, shoes, accessories or anything like that, but still want to save money, I highly suggest saving money for those end of season sales. My favorite store to shop at when this happens is Dillards! I LOVE that store. If you do not want to wait until the end of the season to shop deals, log on to the store’s website and look at their sales and promotions to see if you get lucky!

I hope you guys are all having a great week and are completely aware that staying stylish does not have to be so pricey!

If you would like to see my top four favorite thrift store finds, starting with the frontal view of the summer dress I am wearing in the image below, please find me on Instagram @alamocitysara┬áčÖé

Summer Dress

Music + Fashion

Hello everyone! It is raining like crazy where I live, deep in the heart of Texas!

Rainy days are the best days to watch music videos all day long, which brings me to this fun topic which is 5 music videos I can think of from the top of my head that has nice fashion! I am going to start it off with Gwen Stefani’s music video for ‘Cool’

Gwen just looks so gorgeous in the present and in the flashbacks she has with an ex boyfriend. I love the vintage summer dresses she wears and it gives viewers a nostalgic feeling when they look at it. Although I cannot relate to the song, this is one of my favorite songs from her. The new girlfriend/wife is also beautiful! Oh, and the hairstyles in this video is also stunning!

This next one is from the band HAIM which has three sisters in it, Alana, Danielle and Este Haim. They each have their own style which shows in all their videos. I chose this video because the outfits they wear are all outfits I would personally wear. You can see who is more casual, who is more rocker, and who is the girliest in this music video here, ‘Want You Back’

This next one is a complete 180 from the fashion and music in HAIM’s music video. This one is a country music video from the artist Jennifer Nettles. This is her song ‘Unlove You’ and I want that red dress! She wears three different dresses in this video, the red one at the bar, the silver one under water and the red one under water. The red one under water is the same as the one before, but they put a longer red skirt over it to make it more dramatic. I tear up when I hear this song. No other country love song sung by a woman gives me a stronger emotional feeling. It’s so powerful.

This next one will help you get the tears out of your eyes from that last one, it’s one of Sheryl Crow’s hits that needs to be in everyone’s summer playlist, its ‘Soak Up The Sun’ ! Sheryl makes me want to go out and live near the beach so I can have the perfect excuse to dress like this every day! from the swimsuits, to the bohemian beach babe wardrobe, to those slick sunglasses and stone/seashell jewelry, how can you not love this?

Since I did one with some summer fashion, this next one is some winter fashion without it being a Christmas song of course, Alicia Keys music video for ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ this song by her holds a special place in my heart because one of my best friends sang this song when we did karaoke for my birthday one year. I think of her every time I hear this song! It’s one of those songs that will make me smile no matter what.

I hope you all enjoyed reading and watching these videos. These are all based on my own personal opinion and songs that I like to listen to. These videos were also ones that I was able to think of from the top of my head, so please don’t freak out if you really felt like I missed a lot of good fashion forward videos. I know these songs and videos ( with the exception of HAIM) are all old and whatnot, but I love the fashion and the music of hack then a lot! You can comment which music videos you like the fashion in! I would love to know what you guys like and listen to.

Enjoy some music and stay stylish!

My Favorite Long Earrings

Can we talk about jewelry in a fun and non-controversial way now? Great!

I got a second ear piercing about three weeks ago and it has reminded me of how fun it is to wear earrings and jewelry in general. Although I am not a simple jeans and t-shirt girl, I can easily make a simple look my own when I have the right jewelry! Today I am going to show my favorite long earrings that I own. I was supposed to pick my top 5, but I hope you are all okay with seeing my top 6 instead!

I am going to start things off with a pair of earrings that have my favorite color: RED!

These were handmade from a lady who sells jewelry. She had made these earrings to sell at a yard sale in order to make extra money. I am wearing them in the images below!

These next ones were from the store WetSeal and I had snatched the last pair that looked like this back when I worked there. WetSeal is coming back and I cannot wait!

These are definitely more dramatic and are not even heavy on the ears which is a plus!

Now I am going to show you earrings from Forever 21! I bought these in Austin, TX.

These earrings are a mixture of gold and silver and give me a more girly feeling when I wear them. I think they really stand out against my dark red hair. What do you think?

These next ones are ones that make me smile every time I see them because they are just so fun to wear! They are from the store Dillards and the brand is Anna & Ara.

How fun are these?! I bet I can make more like these if I went to the craft store! I really love the fuchsia pink color and the gold. these colors compliment each other well and I think that they are perfect earrings to wear in the summer! No more boring jewelry!

That is it for today’s blog. I really hope you all liked these earrings! Let me know which ones were your favorite! I also want to thank everyone who has followed my Instagram account. I was able to reach my goal of 150 followers on August 4th which was the day that my fashion account turned 2 months old! If you really like my fashion, spread the word of my fashion blog or Instagram account to your friends and family! I would love to see this family grow. Remember to be kind to one another and of course, stay stylish!

Shoedazzle Obsession

It’s another hot day in Texas, but that is nothing new. Especially in the month of July! What’s also nothing new is my Shoedazzle addiction. It doesn’t matter what month out of the year it is, I have a shopping problem with this online store.

I have been a Shoedazzle member since 2011! I used to also be a member of their sister store JustFab, but I ended up canceling the account because I was getting involved in too much online shopping for my bank account’s comfort. I am going to keep this blog short and straight to the point when I say that I really love Shoedazzle. They have a lot of nice styles that come in different colors and my membership guarantees me the VIP price of their products versus the original price. I love that I can scroll through all types of styles and even look at bags, clothing and accessories. Although I love clothes, I really come shop here for their shoes. I buy mostly flats and boots and have gotten compliments on every single pair I’ve purchased from here. Coincidence? I doubt it.

If you love shoes and shop for shoes very often, then I recommend creating a membership with Shoedazzle. The only catch is that your card will be charged $39.99 if you do not ‘Skip the Month’ by the 5th day of each new month that comes up. Although I think this rule sucks, I have personally managed to remember to skip the month if buying shoes is not in the budget. If you know you may forget to do this each month, you can set a reminder on your phone to skip or you can shop the site without becoming a member. Members have the benefit of purchasing anything at a discounted price, so really think about what would be the best thing to do for yourself.

This blog is short for today, but before I go, here are the new pair of shoes that I bought that came in yesterday! These shoes are called Kayna and they also come in black!

As always, thank you for reading and stay stylish!

My Favorite Perfumes

For those of you following my Instagram account, you probably already know that I was really feeling those girly vibes today. For those of you who are not following me on Instragram, you can search for alamocitysara and follow me!

Today I wore a floral printed dress and some pink seahorse earrings and topped off my finished look with some perfume. Statistics say that people who put on some type of fragrance before they walk out the door, that they instantly become 20% more attractive than those who do not!

I wore today’s outfit with my favorite perfume which is Daisy by Marc Jacobs.

I discovered this perfume through a perfume sample in Seventeen┬ámagazine. It wasn’t one of those samples that they just spray on the paper, but an actual little trial size that I was able to spray and wear to school whenever I wanted. It has a very youthful scent and does not make girls seem like they are trying to be all grown up, but at the same time it demands a little more respect to be treated as a young lady versus just a teenage girl. I loved it so much that my parents ended up buying it for me for Christmas.

My second favorite perfume is actually from Victoria’s Secret’s sister store, PINK. Personally, I shop PINK more than Victoria’s Secret because I love their pajamas and workout gear. What attracts me to shop both of these stores is that it just smells so amazing in there! The first time I sprayed PINK’s body spray, Cool & Bright, I knew I had to come back for it on pay day. First off, I loved the fact that it said Cool & Bright. I felt that the name reflected off of the personality of whoever wore it. When I went the the register to purchase it, I won the jackpot when the cashier told me that I could mix and match four different PINK products whether it was body mist, lotion or body wash and get it for just $25 total! Since I wanted in on this deal, I also bought a pink glittery body spray, Wild At Heart, that is perfect to wear with off-the-shoulder clothing because I like to spray it on top of my shoulders and in my collar bone area. I actually bought these body sprays right before I saw the movie Beauty and the Beast. It was a pretty great day.

This next perfume is one that I like to spray when I am wearing black for some reason. I think that the scent is very sophisticated and a bit mysterious and it is Eau de Parfum by Armani Code. Every time that I wear this, someone will tell me that I look nice today. I don’t know if this is a coincidence or maybe a lot of people think that black is my color. Either way, it feels pretty good to be complimented! The best way that I can describe this perfume is that it is like a very feminine cologne. It is also a little more fragrant than my previous perfumes so just one spray goes a long way.DSCN3219[1]

Another one of my perfumes that will last all night with just one spray is FlowerBomb by Viktor & Rolf. It is definitely an evening perfume that is really great to wear for a date. I got this one as a Christmas gift and hadn’t heard of it prior to that day, but I really liked it. I think that this spray would be a little too much for a teenage girl, but definitely flattering on a young woman.DSCN3217[1]An evening perfume that is a great scent but not as fragrant is Midnight by Ralph Lauren. This is the perfect perfume to wear if you prefer lighter scents, but still plan on a night on the town. I actually wore this perfume on my second year anniversary with my boyfriend a few weeks ago! The scent is light and has a hint of floral to it and it could also be worn to the office as well.DSCN3224[1]

Last but not least is another perfume from Victoria’s Secret and it is called Love Is Heavenly. I got the travel size style and unlike all my other frangrances that spray out the product, this one is one that you rub on yourself when applying it. This one reminds me of Romance by Ralph Lauren which is a perfume that has been around since 1998. I think it is always good to have at least one travel size perfume to carry with you when you are on the go. You never know when you might need it!

That’s all I have for you guys tonight. Whether you are going out on a date or to work, it doesn’t hurt to spray a little bit of fragrance before you walk out the door. When it comes to putting on fragrance, be mindful of how much you out on. We all know that too much of something is not a good thing. Spray your wrist and chest and you should be good to go! Until next time, have a great night and stay stylish!
