In The Eyes Of The Beholder

I often write about fashion on here. I love the fact that when a person takes the time to dress up or try a new style that they begin to have a positive change in their confidence and even their attitude. I love seeing the way that fashion is used to help people express themselves and the fact that it helps them stand taller when they walk from down the hall to down the streets. These are the reasons why fashion and style are so important to me. It is not a status thing. It is not a materialistic thing or a “just for fun” thing, but so much more than that.

My heart breaks a little when someone says that fashion isn’t important or even necessary is one’s life, because I couldn’t disagree more.

Before starting my fashion account on Instagram or blogging on here, I was told by many people that they loved how I dressed. It would make my day to know that the time and effort I put into my wardrobe before I walked out was not just a pigment of my imagination. I know this seems very arrogant of me, but isn’t it nice when someone gives you a compliment?

Isn’t it even nicer when the person that gives you a compliment is not solely just people who are online or through social media?

Let me tell you something Kenny, it’s pretty flattering and you never quite forget it.

The other day when I was taking some pictures of the work outfits I showed you guys the other day, a lady who was walking her two dogs passed by and told me that I looked beautiful. She didn’t specify any one particular item on my outfit but she did analyze my outfit head to toe behind her big sunglasses. The outfit she saw was the one with the leopard dress. If I had to pick one outfit that I was a little hesitant to wear at first, it was the one with this dress. However, this outfit is the one that has received the most compliments and has started the most conversations.

When we receive compliments from others, there can sometimes be an initial reaction of surprise because what we may have walked out the door feeling super casual or kicking ourselves in the butt for forgetting to wear that necklace or wake up earlier to fix our hair and so forth, but what we see is not going to be what other people will see. It’s often in the eyes of the beholder that they are able to see something positive in others. When I see the image above of myself, the first thing I saw was how my stomach folds. I have rolls guys. Did you notice that when you saw this photo?

Probably not, but now I just pointed it out to you.

The point is, we make too big of an issue over very small and unimportant things. Would you have thought that because of the way my stomach looked, I almost didn’t post this photo? My mind changed when I shifted my focus on my legs instead. I have pretty nice legs thanks to running all those miles!

A few people from my Instagram family on my fashion account have reached out to me with some questions on fashion and other tips. Some of them were friends from high school who I have not seen in about three years already. Since I still consider myself very amateur at blogging and having a fashion account on Instagram, I can honestly say that I was able to reach success in a matter of two months. My success is not determined by how many followers I have on here or over there on Instagram, but rather when I know that others view me credible enough to ask me fashion, style and shopping questions. Do not get me wrong, it is nice seeing my Instagram and fashion blog family grow, but the number of followers are not what determine my success. People are welcome to come and go as they please as long as they stay kind to one another while they remain here. That is all I ask.

Through the eyes of others, I have learned that I actually dress pretty well! Through the eyes of others, I have learned that they do not see my imperfections. Through the eyes of others, I learned that fashion is what has made me stand out from the crowd.

I hope you all have a great start to your weekend and remember to stay stylish!

Shoedazzle Obsession

It’s another hot day in Texas, but that is nothing new. Especially in the month of July! What’s also nothing new is my Shoedazzle addiction. It doesn’t matter what month out of the year it is, I have a shopping problem with this online store.

shoedazzle

I have been a Shoedazzle member since 2011! I used to also be a member of their sister store JustFab, but I ended up canceling the account because I was getting involved in too much online shopping for my bank account’s comfort. I am going to keep this blog short and straight to the point when I say that I really love Shoedazzle. They have a lot of nice styles that come in different colors and my membership guarantees me the VIP price of their products versus the original price. I love that I can scroll through all types of styles and even look at bags, clothing and accessories. Although I love clothes, I really come shop here for their shoes. I buy mostly flats and boots and have gotten compliments on every single pair I’ve purchased from here. Coincidence? I doubt it.

If you love shoes and shop for shoes very often, then I recommend creating a membership with Shoedazzle. The only catch is that your card will be charged $39.99 if you do not ‘Skip the Month’ by the 5th day of each new month that comes up. Although I think this rule sucks, I have personally managed to remember to skip the month if buying shoes is not in the budget. If you know you may forget to do this each month, you can set a reminder on your phone to skip or you can shop the site without becoming a member. Members have the benefit of purchasing anything at a discounted price, so really think about what would be the best thing to do for yourself.

This blog is short for today, but before I go, here are the new pair of shoes that I bought that came in yesterday! These shoes are called Kayna and they also come in black!

As always, thank you for reading and stay stylish!

Guilty Pleasures

As you all know, I attended my friend’s wedding the other day. It was a beautiful day. Not only did I witness the couple become one, I also reunited with a lot of my friends who I have not seen since I transferred to a university. I was glad to see that my friends were all doing well and just as happy as I was to see the bride and groom getting married.

So why did I title this post guilty pleasure?

Because my guilty pleasure is wedding related. Guys, I love watching the show, ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ and what better time to share that with you guys than now?!

My great friend wore this beautiful gown that she got from David’s Bridal. It is not over-the-top, but undeniably beautiful on her. The dress had a three quarter sleeve with lace detail and mesh neckline versus bare shoulders. The dress featured a thin jewel piece ribbon in front of her waist and a straight, long skirt with a longer cut in the back. She wore the dress with the long piece in church and was able to remove it for the dance later on.

The veil was attached to the bride’s floral crown that she made herself! My friends are very into anything Dia de los Muertos inspired, so this floral crown was a nice touch for her big day. Their wedding cake definitely gives off this impression and went well with their wedding theme.20170716_125841.jpg

I love dresses in general, but wedding dresses are just very stunning and there is so many styles out there that I think are very beautiful and can make any woman out there believe that she is truly gorgeous and special. Although I love watching this show, I want you all to understand that I am only into it for the dresses. I hate the drama the bride’s friends and family bring and seeing the poor bride trying to please everyone. The dresses are gorgeous and I love that incredible moment when the bride realizes that she has found her perfect dress.  My friends are a beautiful married couple and are off to bigger and better things together.

I want to wish my friends a great honeymoon and a wonderful marriage

God bless you both!
