People are so crazy, it’s not even funny. When you hear a security guard tell people not to push, shove or run in the store, you know that sale has got to be good…
You all know I am a bargain shopper and I love a good sale. Dillards had their additional 50% off already marked down items and you bet your peach, there was a crowd waiting outside Dillards this morning around 9:30 a.m. before their doors opened at 10!
I decided to take the opportunity to film from my point of view, the crowd I saw outside the store’s doors this morning.
Dillards always has these sales the first day of every year and it’s a one day only sale which is the main reason so many people go crazy over it! I took some video of the crowd outside the store and the long line I stood in just to get to the shoe section!
If you want to see those videos, please find me on Instagram @alamocitysara to view that craziness! The shoes and purses were the craziest sections because lines had to be formed and only so many people at a time were allowed to go in at a time. The shoe section gave everyone who stood in line a sheet of paper for people to write down what shoe they wanted, size and color they requested (see image below.) You had to stand in 3 lines before you can even get to the register. The first line is just to get into the department. The second one is where you go to request your size. The third line is to pick-up your shoes and then you can head to the register to pay.
I stood in line for a long time and took a chance on a pair of shoes. Sadly, I’ll have to return them since the size didn’t work out for me. This brings me to my next point, when you participate in sales like these, you only have 3 days after the purchase to return the item you bought if it doesn’t work out. I will probably find myself at Dillards tomorrow returning the shoes that didn’t work out for me, but at least I can get my money back and use it for something that will work out for me.
My family had more luck than I did! My mom was able to get the comforter set that she wanted, my brother scored a pair of name brand pants and my father got a pretty cool jacket! The rest of my first day of 2018 consisted of time with family. I got to see my cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. This includes my grandpa who will be turning 90 years old this April! I am so grateful that he is able to see 2018. He is the most interesting man you’ll meet! Now I can relax in the comfort of my home with my family and I wouldn’t want my life any other way right now. God is good. I’m honestly just glad I was able to return home with my arms and legs still attached to my body!
