What’s Your Major??

Hello everyone! This blog is going to be targetted to those who are college students. I am going to make a back-to-school lookbook soon and I could really use your help! I am going to be doing four different looks depending on your major!

Here are the types of students I am thinking of and their majors…

  • Business Woman
  • Fine Arts Woman
  • Science Woman
  • Kinesiology/ Athletic Woman

I could really use some advice if you fall into any of these categories.

If you are a business student who has to do a presentation, what would you hope that others would think about you when they first see you?

If you are a fine arts student, how would you dress in order to express your individuality?

If you are a science student, what are the dress code requirements for those lab days that you feel that I should keep in mind?

If you are a student who loves to keep active during the school year, what are some easy ways to dress up your athletic wear so that you are not having to carry multiple outfits?

I am looking at filming this back-to-school lookbook which is something that I have never done before, but just thinking about it makes me so excited!

Here is my target audience best described….

Give me some advice ladies! It is your turn on giving me advice on how to stay stylish!

In The Eyes Of The Beholder

I often write about fashion on here. I love the fact that when a person takes the time to dress up or try a new style that they begin to have a positive change in their confidence and even their attitude. I love seeing the way that fashion is used to help people express themselves and the fact that it helps them stand taller when they walk from down the hall to down the streets. These are the reasons why fashion and style are so important to me. It is not a status thing. It is not a materialistic thing or a “just for fun” thing, but so much more than that.

My heart breaks a little when someone says that fashion isn’t important or even necessary is one’s life, because I couldn’t disagree more.

Before starting my fashion account on Instagram or blogging on here, I was told by many people that they loved how I dressed. It would make my day to know that the time and effort I put into my wardrobe before I walked out was not just a pigment of my imagination. I know this seems very arrogant of me, but isn’t it nice when someone gives you a compliment?

Isn’t it even nicer when the person that gives you a compliment is not solely just people who are online or through social media?

Let me tell you something Kenny, it’s pretty flattering and you never quite forget it.

The other day when I was taking some pictures of the work outfits I showed you guys the other day, a lady who was walking her two dogs passed by and told me that I looked beautiful. She didn’t specify any one particular item on my outfit but she did analyze my outfit head to toe behind her big sunglasses. The outfit she saw was the one with the leopard dress. If I had to pick one outfit that I was a little hesitant to wear at first, it was the one with this dress. However, this outfit is the one that has received the most compliments and has started the most conversations.

When we receive compliments from others, there can sometimes be an initial reaction of surprise because what we may have walked out the door feeling super casual or kicking ourselves in the butt for forgetting to wear that necklace or wake up earlier to fix our hair and so forth, but what we see is not going to be what other people will see. It’s often in the eyes of the beholder that they are able to see something positive in others. When I see the image above of myself, the first thing I saw was how my stomach folds. I have rolls guys. Did you notice that when you saw this photo?

Probably not, but now I just pointed it out to you.

The point is, we make too big of an issue over very small and unimportant things. Would you have thought that because of the way my stomach looked, I almost didn’t post this photo? My mind changed when I shifted my focus on my legs instead. I have pretty nice legs thanks to running all those miles!

A few people from my Instagram family on my fashion account have reached out to me with some questions on fashion and other tips. Some of them were friends from high school who I have not seen in about three years already. Since I still consider myself very amateur at blogging and having a fashion account on Instagram, I can honestly say that I was able to reach success in a matter of two months. My success is not determined by how many followers I have on here or over there on Instagram, but rather when I know that others view me credible enough to ask me fashion, style and shopping questions. Do not get me wrong, it is nice seeing my Instagram and fashion blog family grow, but the number of followers are not what determine my success. People are welcome to come and go as they please as long as they stay kind to one another while they remain here. That is all I ask.

Through the eyes of others, I have learned that I actually dress pretty well! Through the eyes of others, I have learned that they do not see my imperfections. Through the eyes of others, I learned that fashion is what has made me stand out from the crowd.

I hope you all have a great start to your weekend and remember to stay stylish!

Work, Work, Work, Work, Work

Before I got my current job, I was working retail. I was working at the store WetSeal and pretty much had the ability to wear whatever I wanted as long as it was an appropriate length and cut that would represent the store and myself well. WetSeal merchandise was always encouraged to wear, so you can imagine just how much I would spend on clothes there on pay day. Plus who doesn’t like a great employee discount?

Now that I am in an office environment, there had to be some changes to my wardrobe. I am the person who sits at the front desk. I answer phone calls, I work on documents, I greet visitors and try to help them with general questions about certain services and because I sit in the front desk, I am the first face people see which puts the need to represent my department well. This put some pressure on me about what I can’t wear anymore. No more ripped jeans. No more spaghetti strapped tops. No more shorts, even if they were dressy shorts. No more shirts that say words like “Tacos & Tequila” or “Beach Please” or “no makeup, no problem” or “all I need is coffee and wifi”…you get the picture. I went into the job interview wearing a high neck black dress and black closed toe flats. I kept the makeup natural looking and straightened my hair. You have no idea how much I researched on what to wear for an interview. Maybe I can blog on some tips soon?

Anyways, my style has transformed since being at my current job and today I am going to show you 3 different looks that I have gotten compliments on at work. This first one is a bit fierce, but it is not over the top. In my personal opinion, mixing two different animal prints is pretty daring and can make any outfit look more trendy. This outfit is under $75 and has started a lot of conversations from visitors to the office.

This second outfit was under $50! The colors in this outfit made me think of Daphnie from Scooby-Doo! Pretty sophisticated and girly at the same time.

Look2

Last look is one that plays with flawless black and white with a pop of color! This outfit was also under $75 and the skirt was only $4!

Look3

Which one of these outfits is your favorite? Do you want to know details on these outfits? Tomorrow I will be posting more details on these three outfits and am currently working on a video for you guys! I hope you guys enjoyed these looks. Do not be afraid to allow your style to grow up with you! Stay stylish my friends.

The Impeccable Pig & Pizza

Hello everyone!

What happens when you want to do a photo shoot outdoors, but then it rains? You take your photos indoors instead and just make due with your surroundings!

The other day my boyfriend and I went to go eat some pizza. The original pizza place we went to was unexpectantly closed, so we went to the nearest pizza place instead. We ended up being the only people there and coincidentally, my outfit kind of blended in with the color scheme of the restaurant! This is what happened.

Pizza

Did not expect a photo shoot to take place in a pizza place, but I honestly really liked the way that these photos came out because the complimented the outfit very well.

So let me tell you the outfit details. I know I usually save outfit details on my Instagram only, but today I am going to tell you right now since it will explain the title. The Impeccable Pig is actually the name of the store that I got this romper from! It is a strapless romper that originally comes with a tie that matches the print of the romper. I made this romper my own by tieing a red ribbon around my waist so the roses could stand out and added a short sleeved button-up shirt from Charlotte Russe to wear over it.

I bought this romper when the store had their big $12 sale and as of now, this is the only purchase I have bought from this store but I hope to change that!

Pizza6

I was very satisfied with my first purchase from The Impeccable Pig. I loved that this romper didn’t have super short shorts and was a respectable length. I also loved that it wasn’t super thin or see-through and that I can wear it in so many different ways!

Go check out The Impeccable Pig’s Instagram account or website if you are interested in their store. They have some pretty cute items! Link for their website is below!

I hope you all liked these photos and will take some time to check out The Impeccable Pig to tell me what you think or if you have bought anything from this store.

Enjoy some pizza and stay stylish!

My Favorite Long Earrings

Can we talk about jewelry in a fun and non-controversial way now? Great!

I got a second ear piercing about three weeks ago and it has reminded me of how fun it is to wear earrings and jewelry in general. Although I am not a simple jeans and t-shirt girl, I can easily make a simple look my own when I have the right jewelry! Today I am going to show my favorite long earrings that I own. I was supposed to pick my top 5, but I hope you are all okay with seeing my top 6 instead!

I am going to start things off with a pair of earrings that have my favorite color: RED!

These were handmade from a lady who sells jewelry. She had made these earrings to sell at a yard sale in order to make extra money. I am wearing them in the images below!

The next ones I am going to show you are some that I purchased from a store named Versona. I was shopping with a friend of mines who picked them out for me.

These are definitely more dramatic and are not even heavy on the ears which is a plus!

These earrings are a mixture of gold and silver and give me a more girly feeling when I wear them. I think they really stand out against my dark red hair. What do you think?

These next ones are ones that make me smile every time I see them because they are just so fun to wear! They are from the store Dillards and the brand is Anna & Ara.

How fun are these?! I bet I can make more like these if I went to the craft store! I really love the fuchsia pink color and the gold. these colors compliment each other well and I think that they are perfect earrings to wear in the summer! No more boring jewelry!

That is it for today’s blog. I really hope you all liked these earrings! Let me know which ones were your favorite! I also want to thank everyone who has followed my Instagram account. I was able to reach my goal of 150 followers on August 4th which was the day that my fashion account turned 2 months old! If you really like my fashion, spread the word of my fashion blog or Instagram account to your friends and family! I would love to see this family grow. Remember to be kind to one another and of course, stay stylish!

Back In Black

Finally! I have been able to blog at an earlier time today! Is everyone’s week going by fast? Mines either.

It’s actually crunch time right now for me and those who may be taking summer classes. I am drowning in homework and am trying to remember every single deadline and of course, work is also picking up as we get closer to the fall semester. I feel like I’ve been constantly talking and thinking about school, but that’s because school is pretty much my life right now. I don’t see anything wrong with that personally, but I will admit that I am really looking forward to my two weeks off. Yeah, unlike two months off, I only really got two weeks off. This is okay, hard work pays off and I cannot wait to get that degree!

Who knew that my campus would be a great place to take some fashion photos? Honestly, this is the last place I would have gone, but since my boyfriend and I went on a random day at a random time, it was pretty nice to take pictures there! Oh, and my outfit was black. Picture of my outfit is in the image below.

Back in Black 2 (1)

Remember that you can always find outfit details on my Instagram account! Give me a follow so I can reach my next goal of 150 followers!

Did you know that you can pretty much dress up a pair of shorts with a nice blouse and jewelry? Shoes can also transform an outfit from looking casual to dressed up. If you do not want to look too casual or over-dressed this semester, boots are always the best shoes to wear because they are super versatile and won’t hurt your feet when you walk all over campus.

Back in Black

I think that the most important rule about wearing black is that your outfit does not have to be boring if you stick to this neutral color or any neutral color for that matter! Any time I like any black clothing, it is because it has its own uniqueness to it. The shoes for example have a jeweled design in the front. The blouse has ruffles and lace detail while the shorts have the white polka-dots to help the outfit come together without overpowering or blending in too much. Let me know what you guys think about this outfit and if you can, check out the picture that Target shared from my Instagram account! Link to see it is going to be right below this sentence.

Have a great day and make sure you go to my Instagram tonight to see the woman who helped inspire me to wear this black outfit! Stay stylish everyone!

Take A Cue From A Scientist And Experiment!

Since we are our own worst critics, I think it’s safe to say that anyone can think of a trend that they felt they couldn’t pull off. Maybe you think that slacks look good on the office assistant, but you don’t think they look so great on yourself when you tried some slacks on at the mall. Maybe you think that you cannot pull off the denim-on-denim look, yet you see someone else wearing it and you think they look great!

The struggle may be too much to handle sometimes, but I want you to challenge yourself to not be so quick to tell yourself that something isn’t going to work out for you after you only tried it once. My second challenge for you all is to compliment each other! If you see someone who looks great, let them know! A simple, “I really like your shoes!” can make someone’s day for all you know. Also take into consideration that when it is Saturday night, a lot of people who go out to celebrate the weekend probably had to put some time and effort into their look before they walked out their door.

The struggle of telling yourself that you cannot pull off a certain trend doesn’t end with just clothing, but your hair and makeup as well! Have you ever seen a YouTube beauty guru and believe that they can seriously pull off anything that they do to themselves!? Last night one of my favorite YouTube beauty guru’s, Carlibybel uploaded her reversed smokey eye makeup tutorial and of course I found myself watching it. Today I decided to give this look a try even though I firmly believed that eyeliner on my bottom lash line does not look good on me. I ignored the voice inside my head that kept telling me I looked like a raccoon and re-watched the video and followed along with Carli. Although I kept thinking how flawless she was and how much of a mess I was making with my makeup, I did my best to do my own version of the look using the product that I had and putting on the amount of makeup that I believed suited my face best.

I finished the eye makeup and did my face makeup as I normally would and was pretty surprised that I liked the way that the makeup came out on me! Would I have made this discovery and overcome my pessimistic attitude of having eyeliner on my bottom lash line if I hadn’t just ignored the stupid voice in my head?

I also did a thing to my hair! Hair is pretty damn sacred. It’s like a crown and honestly, if the hair is having a bad day, so am I. The other day I wore a half-up-half-down hairstyle by making small bun in the back of my head. I even slept overnight with my hair like that so when I unraveled it, I realized that no amount of straightening or curling was going to fix it in 10 minutes. ( I am always on a schedule you know!) So I had to compromise and make myself a bun again. Only this time, I made the bun on top of my head instead of in the back. You may know this hairstyle as they space bun trend and believe me when I say that I have tried it in the past and absolutely hated it on myself! My friends would say that I looked super cute, but I would always feel silly and think to myself that I looked like a retarded telletubby. I overcame both trends that I told myself for so long that I couldn’t pull off, but I must say, I really liked the way I looked as soon as I got rid of that bitchy voice inside my head. The weekend is the best time for me to experiment with my hair and makeup. Today’s look was a success! Here is the final look:

I hope everyone had a wonderful Saturday! Thank you for reading and enjoy the rest of your night. As always, have a great night and stay stylish!
