Halfway through the semester and I am already pretty exhausted! I went out of my way to catch up on homework and school work so I could dedicate this weekend to working on getting some videos on YouTube up. I mentioned in a previous post that I am trying to learn how to video edit and film a little bit more because I want to branch out to YouTube. I figured that this would be the best time of the year to start a channel because of Halloween. This holiday gives me an opportunity to show my creative side with costumes and makeup so I figured, why not?!
I am going to hopefully release a costume video tomorrow and then a different one on Wednesday. This week’s characters are both Disney characters, one is a male character and the other is a female. I think you guys will know who the female character is if you are following me on Instagram. I am eager to show you guys what I have been working on and I hope you will all like what you see.
YouTube is one of those things that I thought would be interesting to do so I stopped making excuses and decided to just go for it. I want you to challenge yourself to set aside some time and think about something that you have always wanted to do, yet find yourself making excuses. Figure out what is preventing you and ignore those excuses and just go for it! If you needed some encouragement to get out and do something, this is it. What is something that you have always wanted to do? Take the first step this week and see how far it takes you and just keep going!
if you’ve seen the Bernie Mac show, you will remember when Jordan said the greatest simile which is, “Excuses are just like butts, everyone’s got one but they all stink!”
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog! It’s about that time where we reflect on the outfits worn this week so let’s get started!
Monday- This skeleton shirt is from Target and of course I was sporting a Halloween inspired shirt to kick off my week. Even though the weather here is all over the place, I am still trying to get into the Halloween spirit and get ready for fall. I paired this blouse with some faded purple pants and wore some grey shoes from Shoedazzle to top it all off.
Tuesday- For Tuesday I wore a burgundy skirt, also from Target, and decided to pair it with black tights, boots and blouse. Since red is my favorite color, I decided that I would wear red lipstick and a red rose necklace that I got from Hottopic several years ago. The skirt is a soft suede material and I love that the studded pocket detail gives it a vintage-y look to it. The necklace also looks like it would have been worn in medieval times, while the rest of this outfit was kept pretty modern. This outfit was my favorite one from this whole week.
Wednesday- You know I love my high-waisted jeans from Fashion Nova. I wore high-waisted jeans by them on both Wednesday and Thursday because they are the best pants ever! I wanted to look put-together yet stay comfortable on this day so I wore some comfortable flats and layered a skull kimono I got from Hottopic, over a simple black tank-top. Still in that Halloween spirit!
Thursday- Thursday is usually my most casual day out of the week as far as outfits go because this is usually my longest day and I cannot afford to have any wardrobe malfunctions interfering me. Simple does not have to be boring though! Luckily bright colored tops with lace detail can save the day! Now-a-days even sneakers are fashionable. I love these sneakers from Steve Madden. I have also worn them in one of my previous ‘Outfits of the week’ blog posts so I’m sure they look very familiar.
Each week continues to fly by so fast! I am pleased to say that I am surviving my classes and slowly but surely learning how to edit videos. I am very excited to see things come together! Let me know which outfit was your favorite!
Have a great weekend and stay stylish!
Hello everyone! I have already completed a quarter of the Fall semester and cannot believe how fast time is flying by. The world of college is a fast-paced one! This week was a little different for me personally because my Monday class did not meet at my school, but instead took a trip to south side’s chamber of commerce were we had a conference with the chamber’s vice president. On this day, I dressed up a little more formal that I would’ve if I had gone to the classroom instead so as you will probably notice, I am wearing a pale peachy-pink blouse with a leopard printed skirt and some black flats. I took this picture right before I left work that day.
Tuesday also had a different schedule than usual since my second class got cancelled! I had a super short day and just went with the outfit that required less effort than usual and laid-back compared to how dressy I was the day before. Even though this outfit and simple makeup look took me about 10 minutes total, it’s still a super cute outfit and was my favorite one this whole week! You guys know I am a crazy cat lady! I am obviously super happy in this photo!
Wednesday it was just a day with me and my boyfriend so I decided to go back to my dressed up self and decided to take on the world wearing my new favorite skirt from boohoo which you guys saw earlier this week!
Thursday…my school gave out free food. Brownies were involved. I am a messy eater. So I ended up getting chocolate on the original blouse I had which was a light blue color. Not cool. This is pretty much why I ended up going to Target because I wanted to get a different blouse. I found some pretty cool stuff on clearance and wore this new top happily as my original blouse paid a visit to the washing machine. The blouse I am wearing in this photo is one of the blouses I bought at Target and the leggings and lipstick shade make it perfectly suitable for a fall outfit. Happy Fall by the way!
This week was definitely more different than usual since I was only really at school Tuesday and Thursday, but if I only did two outfits, this blog would have been way too short! Up next on my blog is all things in celebration of CATURDAY!
Stay tuned and stay stylish!
I was not supposed to go shopping today, but when it came time to take a picture of today’s school outfit, I looked down at my blouse and saw that it had some chocolate stains on it from the free brownies my school gave out. I never say no to free food.
My boyfriend and I decided to make our way to Target and yes, my intention was to buy a top to wear instead of sporting chocolate stains on a light blue blouse. About an hour later into Target, I walked out with two tops, a dress and a skirt. I got all these items for under $40!
While at Target, I also noticed some cute styles that were calling my name. Target has been really stepping up their game! I walked out very impressed. So first off, everything I bought was from the clearance rack. Secondly, clearance items are my favorite!
In the images below are all the items I bought today while shopping at Target.
I spent a total of $38.34 on all four of these items. Just look at the receipt!
Yes, I am so aware of how wrinkly these clothes look, but I will iron them and model in them so you guys can have a better look at them! So what do you learn from reading today’s blog? Don’t dismiss the clearance section!
Can you recall a time where you said you would never wear something like that?
I remember all that time and laugh while shaking my head side-to-side in disbelief. I remember how not even a year ago I said that I would NEVER wear white pants or long pencil skirts. It’s funny how these items made their way into my closet. So what changed?
I began this fashion blog in order to give some outfit inspiration and talk about things relative in the fashion world that I hope is relateable and/or enjoyable to read.
Today I am going to show you some photos I took earlier today where I am wearing a long pencil skirt that I thought I would never, ever wear. So here it goes!
Everything in this outfit are all things that I said I would never wear!
Starting from the shoes, I remember how I said I would never wear shoes that showed my toes. I used to be self-conscious about my toes because of how little they were. My pinky toe is so small, the nail looks like it’s hardly there when I cut my nails!
The skirt, as I mentioned earlier, was that long pencil skirt that I said I would never wear yet this snakeskin one from Boohoo is my favorite! I love skirts, but long length skirts and dresses always intimidated me because I am a short person (5 ft. 2 in) and I felt that I could not pull it off. I think this skirt is very figure flattering and I am really thinking of getting another skirt like this.
The top is a band top! I LOVE band shirts, but I recall a time where I only wanted to wear a band shirt if it was a t-shirt. I used to hate tank tops. I didn’t want to be showing my arms. I had twig arms my whole life and I felt weak. I wouldn’t leave the house in a tank top or in a sleeveless blouse because I didn’t like the way my arms looked.
The choker necklace is also something I thought I wouldn’t wear. I always thought that it looked like a had a collar like my pet cat or something, but the choker necklaces I am seeing everywhere are so cute! I’m obsessed!
Never say never to things without giving them a try. You’ll be surprised to see what actually looks good on you! Keep an open mind and stay stylish! 😉
Do you ever read those fashion magazines that have specific sections that target a specific type of person interested in a specific type of style? Some examples of these are Sporty Glam, Edgy, Feminine, and Classy. Each page that has one of these categories will usually show some fashion finds that would spark the interest of whoever is into that certain style that’s titled on the page. I would see these inside of my Seventeen magazines all the time! I always looked forward to these sections each time a new issue came in because I wanted to see how I could mix and match different styles together and create my own unique wardrobe.
I think fashion becomes style when you mix and match different trends together and find something that works for you. If you are new to the fashion world and this seems a bit overwhelming right now, my advice to you is to go out and find different types of accessories. The accessory I am going to talk about today is choker necklaces!
Today I shopped at Forever 21 and hit the jackpot with these three chokers that would each fit into different categories if they were inside a fashion magazine.
If I had to describe my style, it would be pretty difficult because I like a little bit of everything. However, I mainly live in the world of all things edgy but girly at the same time. This would explain why I chose both the pink choker and the black choker. As for the one on top, I chose this because the silver color made me think of the 90’s which is my favorite decade of all time!
I plan on wearing these this weekend and can officially say that I have found some great accessories that can give off a different style. Who says I can’t be girly one day and gothy the next day? Who says I can’t be a girly goth or dress more retro? The whole point of style is to have fun and express yourself in your own unique way. Who the heck wants to look like everyone else anyway?
If you are on the hunt for some choker necklaces, head over to Forever 21. I got these chokers for $1 each! Have a great night and stay stylish 🙂
