My last post on here was on my birthday which was January 15th….that was almost 10 days ago. I apologize for going a bit MIA on here, but I today was a long day of school and I was talking to some of my fellow classmates and we began talking about beauty products for hair, skin, nails, you name it! As each of us gushed about a product we are really loving at the moment, the conversation began to take a turn when we all started to share some horror stories about beauty products that just didn’t work out for us at all. I thought this would be a great thing to blog about because it is important to continue to understand that what works for one person, may not work for another. Without further ado, here are my top 5 beauty products that worked for most peeps, but not this chickadee!
5. Pantene’s Pro-V Dry Shampoo – My mom had purchased this product and told me that she heard from many YouTubers that this was one of the best dry shampoos ever so she grew curious about it. We decided to give it a try and it did its job nicely for my mom’s hair all day, but only lasted a few hours for my hair. The worst part is that after a few hours, my hair looked even more oily. Not really a good experience.
What DOES work for me and my hair is Dove’s Refresh + Care dry shampoo. I always grab this stuff because it is light, it doesn’t leave my hair feeling itchy or fades away in a few hours. There are different variations to this dry shampoo. It depends what you want.
4. Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Facial Wipes
Yes, unfortunately Allure magazine’s #1 voted makeup remover wipes of 2017 do not work for me. In my own personal experience with these wipes, when I tried to clean my mascara off, I felt the burn. No, not the Bern. No, not the burn you feel when exercising… Neutrogena’s makeup wipes do not like me and will make my eyes feel like someone squeezed lemon in them! Never again.
3. Proactiv’s Deep Cleansing Body Wash
I decided to give Proactiv a try for the first time back in 2015. I may not get a lot of breakouts on my face, but my back has always been a different story. I was working at a mall at the time and I would always pass by the Proactiv kiosk. One day I mustered the courage to talk honestly with a sales rep for the kiosk about my acne and she recommended this product that worked for her so she recommended it to me. I spent about $30 on the bottle and saw no improvement. Still upset about that.
2. RedKen Color Extend Shampoo
Red hair is a lot of maintenance, but I love it so much that I really don’t care. Shampoo is the foundation for great hair and when I first went red, it was so hard finding the right shampoo, this is one of many products that I felt left my hair feeling super dry and damaged. I understand that these shampoos are on shelves to make your color last, but I cannot stress how annoying an itchy scalp due to dry hair is! This product is a fan favorite, but did not work for me.
MY LAST PRODUCT….Please do not hate me…
1.Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
Oh God….did I just admit that to you all?
I was taking a Music Fundamental’s class and this girl who sat next to me had the most gorgeous and perfect lashes that I just had to know what mascara she used. Needless to say, I ran to the store to purchase the $23 mascara from Ulta and was disappointed to see that even though it made her lashes look great, it didn’t do the same for me. I prefer a lengthening mascara versus a volumizing one. That’s just me. I tried this one, hoping my lashes would be bolder, nicer and just stand out more. All this mascara did was just paint my lashes black. I saw no volume, no length, no defintion….nada. I wanted my money back so bad, but I decided to give it more tries.Ā Ha!
Whatever doesn’t work for you, doesn’t work. Find something that does! Remember that we are all different inside and out and the best thing to do is to just focus on what we can do to improve. Tell me some products that did not work for you or products that are your best friend! Thank you so much if you have read this far and stay stylish! š
